Vienna Woods Strings is a community orchestra based in Vienna, Virginia, led by conductor Marc Ramirez along with coach and mentor Olivia Hajioff. We welcome experienced string players from Northern Virginia who wish to develop their technical and musical ability by exploring inspiring and varied string repertoire.
Learn more below about rehearsals, membership expectations, and how to join the orchestra.
About the Group
The part-time ensemble aims to present one concert each in the Fall and Spring. Participants may choose to join Vienna Woods Strings as a complement to their other ensembles or as a flexible alternative to year-round groups.
Players seeking full-season orchestras are encouraged to contact local ensembles in Reston, McLean, Manassas, or Alexandria.
No audition is required to join.
Regular rehearsal attendance is required.
Members should have the ability to perform the repertoire at a level that allows them to demonstrate strong technical, rhythmic, and musical accuracy by the concert date.
Rehearsals
Vienna Woods Strings rehearses on Sunday afternoons. Each concert cycle will include 6–8 weekly rehearsals. Whenever possible, rehearsals will be scheduled to avoid conflicts with local orchestras, allowing Vienna Woods Strings to complement rather than compete with year-round ensembles. The program is designed to support the continued development of string players and help them approach symphonic repertoire with increased confidence and assurance.
Dues
Spring season $150. Fall season $150.
